My name is Cindy, but many of you know me by Fansea. An interesting note about how I came to use the name “Fansea”: It is actually a play on words of my full name (Phan C.) I am actually quite proud of myself for being able to come up with something like that!

I currently reside in Toronto, and have been here all my life. I hold a Bachelor of Design Degree, specializing in Fashion Design. Currently, I work full-time as a Studio Manager for a Toronto-based fashion designer (we couldn’t come up with a job title for me, so I usually get introduced as the person who does everything; both the role of Assistant Production Manager and Assistant Designer). I also do a bit of freelance illustration on the side! You could say that I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything in the creative arts. My dream is to design my own clothing line, whether it’d be human-sized or doll scale.

What drew me into the BJD hobby was the amount of creative freedom that comes from owning a doll. The possibilities are endless–and the challenge of learning all the processes of customizing a doll excites me. Also, the levels of creativity people put into their dolls, and  watching the process of artists sculpting the dolls are fascinating!

I am a workaholic, and I tend to jump from one creative project to another, but this is what keeps me excited because it is something that I love to do. I guess if I am not working on anything creative… I enjoy going to the gym, explorinng the great outdoors, and trying new food~
